Maybe not vapourware, but its definately not going to be anywhere near as good as the expectations all the fanbois have.

/rant

4+ years of development time? started development in a garage (more or less, you get the picture)? funding? delays followed by more delays? no game development experience? no-name development team? an no-name publisher who has no experience publishing.... anything? E3 they had nothing but a mere video with a couple blokes there to talk to? beta? they announced and had guild signups for it like 9-12 months ago. still nothing.

Then there is a problem with it being "skill based", while a great concept, anyone who has tried playing Quake / Delta Force / Unreal Tournament / CS with a 350+ms ping knows it doesn't make for a great game experience. And as far as I have heard on the grape vine, servers are currently going to be EU online.

Pfft.

Afaik you say this because you are a carebear, not because the game has poor PR and has been in development for years. At least it was like this the last time I talked to you and zinor about it That is, you think it can't be succesfull because of open pvp and full loot

No! It can't be successful because it will not be released ever.

Darkfall Online was announced in August, the year is 2001. The approximate release date were set to the first quarter of 2003. Since then, it is in development.

This game is in development since amost six years now and it's still nowhere near release. They promised a lot of stuff but actually noone seen any yet. It has a lot in common with D&L from this point of view, which is scary.

Also, if I am correct, this game is aiming for a small group of players, mostly UO fans 'will' like it. Developing a game for six years which is aiming for a small player base is just ridiculus if you ask me. It is a financial blackhole.

I do not believe it is or will be vaporware, but I think it might be to little to late. Games like Warhammer Online are coming on that are trying to capture the PvP audiance. I am not saying that WAR Online is going to suceed where so many others have failed, but if they take any longer to get Darkfall out, it might be too late when they finally do.
