New Screenshots - February 16 2006
Posted in Darkfall News
Hi guys,
Glad you liked the screenshots. Just wanted to briefly comment on a few of the questions asked here:
Gore can stick to players, weapons, the ground and/or other objects in the area, like rocks, houses, walls etc. It fades over time and eventually goes away. The gore seen on the screenshots haven't been beautified yet, like many of the visual effects in the current build of the game. Most effects are currently getting a facelift.
As Rekker pointed out, the banner he talks about does not have the correct transparency setting.
Gold from SUN mentioned that the weapons are all human. This is purely coincidence. We have more than 200 unique weapon models in Darkfall.
GuntherTheBlack doesn't like the water, and neither do we. What you are seeing is temporary water that is being replaced.
Many talk about the facial texture of the girl. We have painskin effects, meaning that a person taking damage will look increasingly bruised and bloody the more damage he takes. This also goes for weapons and armor which will visually look more and more worn and used when they see combat.
HiroProtagonist asks if the huge structure seen on one of the screens is a clanstone. It is not a clanstone.
Some talk about character shadows - the shadow effects are also temporary, and are being improved and enhanced like most of the visual effects.
There are only humans and orks on the screenshots.
Horses are huge because they are Mercian warhorses. They have been bred to be huge and to totally kick ass, not to look cute in a stable.
Have a nice weekend!

Its been very nice to see the recent evolution in visual terms of the Darkfall engine.
Ill add that these graphics, with the fluidity that darkfall fast paced action will require, will be far more than enough for me to be immersed.
